Parks Envisioned

Parks in NoMa will incorporate the best available thinking on urban parks, public safety, sustainability, and ease of maintenance. NoMa parks will be evaluated in terms of their ability to bring neighbors together as a community and to satisfy individual and family needs for recreation and public space.

NoMa parks will incorporate best practices in the areas of handicapped accessibility and crime prevention through environmental design. Given the neighborhood’s proximity to Gallaudet University, planning and design will incorporate Deaf Space Design Guidelines. Low-impact development measures and stormwater management innovations will be an important part of the NoMa parks program. Demonstrations of vertical green spaces are of particular interest.
